You can  put up an event calendar, so that regular users are kept informed of forthcoming events. Update it as the events are announced, just log in to the system and write it up.

You can also have bespoke forms to suit any other purpose, for example, offer  librarians the option to pre-order  copies of titles publishing later in the year.
